Are recent world events inspiring you to write songs and if so, what are you writing about?

As songwriters we all know that there is nothing more therapeutic than putting pen to paper (so to speak) and crafting what we hope will be a masterpiece.  We do, however, have to allow ourselves to be vulnerable enough to write lyrics that reveal our true selves.  That vulnerability can be risky as it exposes our views to public scrutiny if in fact we’re brave enough to release it to the world.  I’ve been feeling uneasy, angry, hurt and frankly scared by what’s going on in the world right now and have to admit it’s inspiring me to write about things I don’t normally write about.  I’m on the fence about whether I’ll release the results out into the world but while the songs are still in progress, I’ll have time to reflect on that.
